Little Tokyo
About This Spot
Stepping into Little Tokyo at Bloomington’s bustling food court, you’re welcomed by a gentle hum of conversation and the rhythmic sizzle that comes from fresh ingredients meeting the hot grill. This teppanyaki spot moves with a comforting, easy pace — a steady flow of diners settling in for a satisfying meal amidst the energetic backdrop of one of Minnesota’s busiest shopping destinations.
Though the surroundings buzz with activity, there’s a down-to-earth feeling here, shaped by friendly smiles behind the counter and the inviting aroma of grilled chicken, shrimp, and beef cooking to order. It’s the kind of place that feels like a dependable nook where you can quickly catch your breath and enjoy a plateful of honest, hearty Asian fare crafted with care.
What makes Little Tokyo special isn’t just the generous portions or the practical, no-fuss approach but the subtle touches that turn a quick bite into something more memorable. Whether it’s the warming broth of a noodle soup or the familiar comfort of teriyaki dishes, each meal carries a quiet warmth, reflecting the genuine kindness of the people preparing it.
Here, the food is neither rushed nor overly complicated; instead, it embraces a simple sincerity. The freshly grilled meats and vibrant, seasoned vegetables come together on a bed of rice in a way that feels both familiar and unexpectedly refreshing. This is a spot where you can linger on the taste and texture, not just grab a meal to go.
For locals and visitors alike, Little Tokyo offers a grounded, satisfying respite — a small, thoughtful corner of culinary care amid the fast pace of the mall. It’s a reminder that even in the busiest places, a warm atmosphere and a well-prepared meal can feel like a quietly joyful discovery.

I flew into the mall of America in hopes of trying something new, I feel like this place well accomplished that. As I was walking around the food court, I did notice a few other authentic restaurants, with the only major turn off being no menu or prices to indicate what was being served. That led me to settle on Little Tokyo. The woman who took my order was really nice, she recommended me other items but I insisted on just the meal. With that. I got the #3 including, Shrimp, Fried Rice, and Steamed Vegetables, all for the price of 11.97$. I was surprised when I saw the portions, the styrofoam was filled with food all the way to the brim, definitely worth the price. As soon as I found a place to sit, I enjoyed my meal and was pleased with the quality of my meal. The food was all fresh, the Shrimp, Rice, And Vegetables all being hot as it was just off the grill. Considering the mall of America tends to be on the pricey side especially when it comes to food, I’d recommend eating here, you get a big portion, and it’s affordable to feed a big family, or just yourself.

Decided to give this spot a try, all employees were really welcoming and got my order just right. I highly recommend the teriyaki chicken. The cream cheese wontons are delicious. Will definitely be back again soon.

Standard asian food court spot in the mall. Daily specials are always nice and portion size huge.

Quick good food! They cooked the meat fresh on the grill and the rice and vegetables were ready to go. Great price too!

One of the best value eateries at the mall. The base price is reasonable starting at $13. The best parts? They will surprise you with the amount of food they put into your Styrofoam. It will be enough to make you bust out like Lil Uzi Vert from Just Wanna Rock with "damn! Dammnnn" The food is piping hot and fresh off the grill which makes it better than Panda Express or other places where the food sits in a metal tray for Lord knows how long. People are funny. They eat at an American mall eatery (named Mall of America at that) and expect the food to be exactly like what they had in Japan and compare it so. Newsflash, you are not in Japan. You are in Minnesota, take it easy.
